By Andrew Carnegie, 352 pages, 2006, Penguin Random House
From this book came a phrase by Andrew Carnegie that became famous: “The way to get rich is to put all your eggs in one basket, and then watch that basket.” Starting from nothing, Mr. Carnegie traces the story of his journey to becoming a major American industrialist of the 20th century. A great philanthropist – he gave more than 90% of his fortune for the good of humanity upon his death – the man who gave his name to Carnegie Hall considered it a duty of the rich to give back to the community.
